• Student Visa (Subclass 500)
The Student Visa (Subclass 500) allows genuine international students to enter Australia to live and study on temporary basis. The length of the course determines the length of the stay.
The key requirements are:

  1. One must be enrolled in a course of study (eCOE).
  2. One must meet the genuine temporary stay requirement (GTE).
  3. One must provide evidence of level of English language proficiency.
  4. One must be able to demonstrate that you have access to sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay in Australia including the ability to pay course fees, travel to and from Australia and living cost.
  5. One must maintain adequate arrangements for health insurance (OSHC)
  6. One must satisfy certain Public Interest criteria and Special Return criteria.
  7.  One must meet health and character requirements.

• Training Visa (Subclass 407)
This visa allows you to enter Australia to participate in occupational training activities with a designated sponsor. This allows you to stay temporarily in Australia for up to two years. An approved sponsor and nomination are mandatory requirements for this visa.
The key requirements are:

  1. One must be at least 18 years of age unless you can demonstrate that exceptional circumstances exist.
  2. One must have a sponsored who is or has applied to be a temporary activities sponsor.
  3. One must be nominated to participate in the sponsor’s nominated program of occupational training.
  4. The nominated program must be offered as a genuine training opportunity.
  5. The nomination must meet one of the three eligibility types:
    a. Occupational training required for registration
    b. Occupational training to enhance skills (relevant Occupation list applies, Medium and Long Term Strategic Skilled List (MLTSSL), Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and Regional Occupation List (ROL)).
    c. Occupational training for capacity building overseas
  6. One must have at least ‘Functional English’.
  7. One must maintain adequate arrangements for health insurance.
  8.  One must have a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia and for the purpose of taking part in occupational training activities.
  9.  One must be able to demonstrate that you have access to sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay in Australia.
  10.  One must satisfy certain Public Interest criteria and Special Return criteria.

• Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590)
This visa allows you to enter Australia on a temporary basis for providing support to a student visa holder due to exceptional circumstances.
The key requirements are:

  1. One must be the student’s parent, custodian or relative who is 21 years or older
  2. One must have enough money to support yourself and the student during your stay
  3. One must be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support.
