The Business Innovation and Investment Program (Permanent-Subclass 888)
This visa allows holders of Subclass 188 (Business Innovation and Investment Program) in the Business Innovation stream or the Business Innovation Extension stream, or Subclass 444(Special category holders), or certain holders of Subclass 457 to stay permanently in Australia.
It includes Business Innovation stream, Investor stream, Significant Investor stream, Premium Investor stream, and Entrepreneur stream.
Business innovation stream is for someone who has proven Business experience and has genuine intent to start and own the Business in Australia. Candidate who has proven minimum of 2 year of owning and operating business experience four fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply , Turner over of such business is minimum of AUD500,000 for each year and has total lawful assets including business and personal of at least AUD 800,000 that is readily available to be transferred to Australia for investment within 2 years of visa grant .
Investor Stream:
Applicant should have lawful acquired net business, investment and personal assets of at least AUD2.25 million for two financial years before you are invited to apply and that are available to be transfered to Australia within two years of the visa being granted.
Make a designated investment of at least AUD1.5 million in a state and hold that investment for at least four years from date of issue in your nominating state or territory.
The Significant Investor (SIV) stream
For Applicant who are capable and willing to invest at least AUD 5 million into complying investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia after the original investment has matured.
The Premium Investor (PIV) stream
Designed to encourage investment into Australia of at least AUD 15 million that makes a material difference and attracts entrepreneurial skill and talent.
The Business Innovation and Investment Visas have a two stage process to Permanent residency: initially a temporary visa is granted and then if certain requirements are met, a permanent visa will be granted.
Basic eligibility requirement:
One must hold a relevant stream of the subclass 188 visa or in relation to applications for a subclass 888 visa in the Business Innovation stream, hold a relevant stream of the subclass 188 visa, or a subclass 444 (Special Category) visa, or a subclass 457 (Business (Long Stay)) visa granted in certain circumstances.
• The Business Talent (Permanent) (Subclass 132)
This visa allows you to develop an existing or establish a new business in Australia. It further has Significant Business History and Venture Capital Entrepreneur streams.
The key eligibility requirements are:
• be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency
• be invited to apply for the visa
• have the required funding or assets
Significant Business History stream: This visa is for experienced business owners, to operate a new or existing business in Australia.You must have net business and personal assets of at least AUD1.5 million and an annual business turnover of at least AUD 3 million.
Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream: This visa is for people who have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Investment Council (AIC) (formerly known as the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL). You must have funding of at least AUD1 million from an Australian venture capital firm.

• Business Owner (Subclass 890)
This visa is for people who own and manage a business in Australia and allow them to stay here for an indefinite period.
The key requirements are:
- hold an eligible visa
- have lived in Australian on that visa for at least 12 months in the 2 years immediately before the application is made while holding this visa
- have owned and operated a business in Australia for at least 2 years immediately before the application is made

- Participating actively in the management of one or more business operated, under a formal joint venture agreement/s not less than 1 year – 5 Points
- An ownership interest in a main business/s that derives no less than 50% of its annual turnover from export trade – 15 points
